The redevelopment project of the former La Marmora barracks, owned by the CDP Group, presented during “Paratissima”, an important contemporary exhibition
Conversion of large urban spaces into meeting and work places is the Urban Transformation work initiated by the CDP Group, enhancing collective heritage such as military barracks for years in disuse, before being purchased by CDP Investimenti Sgr. CDP Investimenti Sgr promotes the transformation of abandoned structures such as the Sani barrack in Bologna, St.Gallen in Florence, and Colleoni Montelungo in Bergamo into renewed urban areas, providing fresh opportunities for cities and people.
This transformation process represents an opportunity for growth. The vast spaces become ideal places for cultural events dedicated to the community such as La Marmora of Turin, currently hosting the Paratissima contemporary art exhibition.
With 536 artists, 8 sections and 7 exhibits curated by the 12 students of New Independent Curatorial Experience - the course for young curators of Paratissima - the spaces of the former barracks offer visitors the chance to view works related to design, fashion, photography and street art.
The event is also an opportunity to present the redevelopment work dedicated to the former La Marmora barracks designed by architect Carlo Ratti. Green terraces, a large urban court and underground parking will be the main elements of a project based on a continuous renewal process, improvement and adaptation of individual spaces. The inhabitants will choose from the many possibilities of co-living, co-making and co-working that the complex offers, along with a museum entirely dedicated to the Resistance period during the Second World War.
The project was presented during a workshop in the presence of Deputy Mayor of Turin Guido Montanari, Alessandro Cimenti, Deputy mayor of Turin in charge of urban planning; President of the architecture Foundation of Turin, Giovanni De Niederhusern; architect Chiara Morandini of the Studio Carlo Ratti and Salvatore Sardo, CDP Chief Operating Officer ; Paola Delmonte of Cdp Investimenti Sgr; and Anselmo Comito of CDP Immobiliare.
