Selection phase ends; three architecture finalists must make proposal to convert former hospital in Florence
The competition for the redevelopment of the former San Gallo Military Hospital San Gallo in Florence, organized by CDP in September, has entered the final phase.
Among a list of forty-two candidates, three were selected to participate in the final stage. The finalist teams led by the architects Michele De Lucchi, Luigi Ulivieri and Fabrizio Rossi Prodi were chosen by a jury of professionals based on preliminary designs.
The teams will now present plans for the hypothetical enhancement and redevelopment of the property, which CDP Investimenti Sgr acquired from the Italian government in December 2014.
The general indications call for favoring residential use, the recovery and redevelopment of the 16 thousand square meter area taking in consideration its social potential, respecting the architectural characteristics of the former hospital and, at the same time, the vision of CDP Group to promote project enhancement through the recovery of architectural and real estate assets, and return to the multi-functional spaces in the city, based on the concept of sharing and sustainability.
