From today, social housing is more accessible thanks to the new ioabitosocial.it portal, promoted by CDP, the Compagnia di San Paolo’s Housing Programme and the Ministry of Infrastructure. The portal is designed to find new housing solutions in Italy for people who, for social, economic, family or professional reasons, experience a phase of transition or temporary difficulty. Users will be able to evaluate more opportunities and options on the site, through a simple, intuitive search engine which has the capacity to cover the entire national territory. The portal was created with the aim of giving visibility to various structures, gradually becoming the access point of reference. The initiative fully responds to CDP’s commitment to identifying solutions to support the country, especially in terms of innovation and sustainability: “The CDP Group, engaged in social housing for years as an FIA manager and investor, looks with great interest at the open source initiative of a long term and innovative partner like the Compagnia di San Paolo, with a view to collaborating in their success and spreading good practice at a national level” said Paola Delmonte, Chief Business Development Officer at CDPInvestimenti SGR. “Ioabitosocial is a particularly topical initiative, which comes in the wake of investments in digital infrastructure that is so important for the country. It combines the objective of promoting real time matching of social housing demand and supply, with the aim of giving prestige and visibility to the important commitment made by the operating chain suppliers, along with interested national and local investors”. The launch of the new portal took place in conjunction with another important social housing initiative: a few days ago, the second phase of the Cascina Merlata redevelopment project began in Milan, which involves the construction of four new towers for a further 300 apartments, making a total of 700. This is one of the biggest social housing projects in Italy, carried out by the local HS Cascina Merlata fund (managed by Investire Sgr), which is 60% owned by the FIA of CDP Investimenti SGR, EuroMilano, Cassa Cnpadc and the Crono Fund. The new Cascina Merlata district was inaugurated in 2015, during the Expo and has a mix of functions: schools, equipped public spaces, playgrounds, a shopping centre and the historic Cascina Merlata – renovated for public functions – and the Expo 2015 Village, now the Social Village, converted into residences and services.
