CDP’s commitment to the education sector is reflected in a number of initiatives that reinforce the value of training as a key element in building the future, both in Italy and worldwide.
Among these is its latest project within the realm of international cooperation, to help improve the school system in Jordan.
CDP has signed a new €85 million loan agreement with Jordan’s Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation to support the national budget in the education sector, with a particular emphasis on pre-school education and technical and vocational training.
The initiative aims to combat the fast-growing school drop-out rate in the country, ensuring the quality of pre-school education, through the restructuring of existing school buildings and the creation of new nursery schools. The financing contract will also be useful in strengthening professional skills in the field of sustainable tourism and enhancing environmental protection and culture in Jordan.
The new cooperation project is a further initiative in the wide range that CDP is carrying out to support school education. During the month of October in particular, which is dedicated to financial education, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has been at the forefront of spreading the importance of key issues in schools, fundamental for building a future for younger generations.
The funding for Jordan, signed as part of the framework of the management of the Revolving Fund for Development Cooperation, also contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and 17 (Partnership to Achieve the Goal) of the UN 2030 Agenda.
