New opportunities for growth in the Italian property and hotel sector, as illustrated at the 21st edition of the International Hotel Investment Forum. Marco Sangiorgio, General Manager of CDP Investimenti Sgr, represented CDP Group at the event
117 million tourists every year, a strong rate of growth, with 4.8% more visitors than in 2016, and a record 53 UNESCO sites within the national territory: these are the numbers that speak volumes about the sheer excellence that characterises the Italian tourist industry, an expanding sector that has long been the subject of close attention by international investors. As such, CDP Group was invited to present some of the superb opportunities that Italy has to offer to 2,000 foreign operators at the 21st edition of the International Hotel Investment Forum, one of the key international events for operators in the property and tourism-hotel sector.
For the second year running, CDP took part in the "Italia Hospitality" initiative at the Berlin session of the Forum, developed in collaboration with a number of major Italian institutions and companies (including the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Italian Trade Agency and the Associazione Italiana Confindustria Alberghi e Sistemi Urbani, the Confindustria Italian Association of Hotels and Urban Systems). In addition to the installation of an exhibition pavilion dedicated to Italy, our presence at this event was also further enriched by the inclusion of a special breakout session in the event programme, entitled "Italy: New Investment Opportunities Opening ", focused on the Italian market and the new investment opportunities that this presents.
Marco Sangiorgio, General Manager of CDP Investimenti Sgr, represented CDP Group at the event: "Tourism is a strategic component of the Italian economy, and is showing both improved levels of performance and potential for further growth. As a National Promotional Institution, CDP Group is at the heart of the action when it comes to financing investment platforms in sectors that are strategic for Italy, which include that dedicated to property infrastructure for tourism."
In line with the Group's mission, CDP is dedicated to promoting the development of the Italian tourism sector through a number of areas of key areas of intervention. Activities are focused on improving and enhancing properties destined for hospitality purposes, promoting the hotel businesses and the development of tourism-related infrastructures, mobilising European funds for tourism in support of the public administration and more generally, on endorsing the cultural heritage of the country.
