CDP renews its support for the undersea power interconnector between Italy and abroad, supporting the construction of the interconnection electrical line between Italy and Montenegro.
The €231 million transaction involved the participation of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, for a share of over €32 million, in a pool with other leading national and international credit institutions, to support Monita Interconnector, which built and will manage the private portion of the electrical line, with a capacity of 200 MW.
CDP's involvement, adding to the July 2017 financing of the Italy - France line, is aimed at promoting Italy's infrastructure development and contributing to the integration of European electricity networks, to develop a single energy market.
The 445 km Italy-Montenegro interconnector consists of very high voltage electrical cables linking the substations in Cepagatti (Pescara) and Kotor (Montenegro), for a total transmission capacity of 1200 MW.
The infrastructure, declared by the European Union to be of common interest, will help to improve the operational safety and flexibility of Italy's electricity grid and will encourage the integration of energy production from renewable sources.
