National School Safety Day saw the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education, University and Research. Under the agreement 1.3 billion euro will go to finance renovation and energy efficiency work on school buildings
From renovation to seismic retrofitting, from the construction of new public buildings to the energy efficiency of existing buildings, CDP's continues its commitment to the school building sector and sees the EIB a valuable ally. Indeed the new Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Ministry of Education and the European Investment Bank aims to allocate new resources to support the Italian government’s School Construction Plan for the three years 2018-2020. The EIB will allocate up to 1.3 billion euro that CDP will use to grant funding to the regions for the performance of extraordinary works of renovation, improvement, risk prevention, seismic retrofitting, energy efficiency and construction of new school buildings.
The Memorandum signed by Antonella Baldino, Chief Business Officer of CDP, Valeria Fedeli, Minister of Education, University and Research, and Dario Scannapieco, Vice-President of the EIB, offers practical support for school construction on the occasion of National School Safety Day. The day also offers an opportunity for reflection and training for Italian school students who can meet experts, planners, local officials, and discuss the issues of safety in schools and risk prevention.
The MoU confirms the partnership between CDP, EIB and the Italian government for the implementation of the School Building Plan launched in 2015. In the first three years the EIB approved over 1.4 billion euro in funding of which, a few days ago, the last tranche of 240 million euro was allocated, in this case again for works to improve efficiency in Italian schools.
Support for renovation and seismic retrofitting is only one of the activities that CDP performs for this nationally strategic sector. CDP carries out a full range of activities in this field, including its interventions with the EIB, its commitment to the construction of university residences in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Revolving Fund for Project Development and the Kyoto Fund for energy efficiency.
#wepromotethefuture by supporting the training of new generations, the stars of tomorrow.
